Create Site Action Does Nothing

Hi.

I've created a workflow where one of the actions is the "Create a Site" action from iLoveSharePoint.Activities solution.

I have tried the following settings for the action:

1. Configured it with a url in the format: http://myserver:portnumber/sitecollection/web

but it errors saying "contains illegal character ':'"

2. Configured it with a url in the format: http://alternate.access.url/sitecollection/web

but similarly it errors saying "contains illegal character ':'"

3. Configured it with a url with no ":" in it: alternate.access.url/sitecollection/web

this time it does not error but no site is created.

What format should the URL be in?

Hello,

unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce the error. The format seems to be correct.

http://hostNameOrDns/sites/existingSiteCol/myNewWeb

At existingSiteCollection must already exist a site collection, but a wrong url would cause a "FileNotFoundException", not the URL parsing Exception.

You can verfiy your URI with PowerShell:

new-object System.Uri("http://hostNameOrDns/sites/existingSiteCol/myNewWeb")

If no exception will be thrown the URI is fine.

As an alternative you could also use a relative URL. For example the workflow is running on web http://hostNameOrDns/sites/existingSiteCol and you configure the url as "myNewWeb". This should create the web with this URL http://hostNameOrDns/sites/existingSiteCol/myNewWeb.

Hi,

I'm seeing the same results as eurgalatha.  I can only get relative path urls to work.  Fully qualified urls always return an error - http://sp2010dev01/newsite contains an illegal character ':'

Any ideas?

Thanks,

R
