Copy BETWEEN SITES a document from one doc library to another doc library, plus Tagging

Hi

Ain: Copy BETWEEN SITES a document from one doc library to another doc library, plus Tagging

Can we use “SharePoint Designer PowerActivity V1.2” to copy one document (plus tagging) to a doc library on a other site?

 I made some tests with custom workflow activity for SPD to copy list items across site, but due to the fact that I am using “Lookup Field with Picker” in both lists the workflow only creates an item blank on the destination list. This problem does not occur if I only use text field in both lists.

Best regards

Hi,

the Lookup Field with Picker stores his value as "SPFieldLookupValue", exactly as the normal Lookup.
Theoretical it should behave the same way, pratical unfortunately it often don't.

To do this you could use the PowerActivity. I think you have to loop through all fields and copy them by script code.

Thank you , once again for your help

PowerActivity => PowerShell

Do you know any link with some suggestion or example to help me with the code.

(Note : With PowerShell , it not possible  to use a web service from sharepoint “copy.asmx” to accomplish this type of task)

Hi,

there are some small examples on  my blog: http://www.iLoveSharePoint.com and my quick start for PowerShell & SharePoint:

Also Karine Bosch  has written some great posts http://www.u2u.info/Blogs/karine/Lists/Categories/Category.aspx?Name=PowerShell.

With PowerShell/PowerActivity it is possible to use SharePoint web services http://cglessner.blogspot.com/2008/09/poweractivity-call-web-service-with.html

My Favorite workflow tool for SharePoint is Nintex Workflow http://www.nintex.com/. There is a built-in call webservice activity.
